Biographical Note

Mary Crosby (1839-1926) was a charter member of the Bangor Woman's Crusade, the first temperance organization in Maine. She later served as secretary for the Bangor Women's Christian Temperance Union. Crosby wrote many articles on temperance and civic improvement topics. She was also a founder of the Kindergarten Association of Bangor, formed in 1891 to promote kindergarten education.
