Journals kept by Bertha L. Brown, a charter member of the Bird Conservation Club of Bangor, Maine. The journals document Brown's birding activities in Maine, California, and Oregon. Collection also includes a notebook of wildflower sightings, a Daily Field Checking List, and the field guides Land Birds East of the Rockies and Wild Flowers East of the Rockies.

Biographical Note
Bertha Louise Brown (1865-1946) was a birder and nature writer from Bangor, Maine. Brown and her sister Alice helped establish the Bird Conservation Club of Bangor. Brown wrote articles for National Audubon's publication Bird Lore and a monthly “Bird-Lovers” column for the Bangor Daily Commercial. She was also active in the bird banding movement.
